A Note from the Farmer's Wife
I am sure everyone is breathing a sigh of relief this morning. The air feels crisp and clear, and the sun and sky glorious. If there ever was a week of summer dog days, this was the week…and we hear that more is ahead of us. I am sure you can all imagine putting in a 10 hour day with the temperature in the 90s and the humidity to match. Let’s just say the Farmer comes in from the fields looking…and smelling…less than glamorous.
To me though, he does look heroic. He doesn’t complain, and neither does the crew. He says he gets used to it, something I have not experienced over the years. But today is a fresh day. Market will be busy and happy and the farm is fairly glowing green. The long summer sun has a powerful impact on all growing things and the fields look robust. Come visit the farm tomorrow, eat some good food and enjoy the beauty of the outdoors.
